Finding Your Purpose: How to Craft a Life That Truly Feels Like Yours
I want to ask you something that most of us don’t stop to think about: When you look at your life today; the way you spend your time, the things you say yes to, the way you show up, does it feel like you?
Or does it feel like you’re living on autopilot, doing the things you’re “supposed” to do, but not necessarily the things that light you up?
If you’ve been wondering, “What’s my purpose in life?” or feeling you need to “reinvent yourself,” you’re not alone. Many of us reach a point where finding your purpose, living with purpose, and truly discovering my purpose becomes the key to feeling alive again.
So many women hit this point, especially in midlife, when the kids are older, routines have shifted, and the question starts bubbling up: What’s next for me?
Here’s the truth: finding your purpose isn’t about burning it all down or starting from scratch overnight. It’s about slowly reconnecting with what matters most to you and making small, intentional shifts so your life begins to reflect that.
Step 1: Discovering Your Life Purpose Through Values
Your life purpose isn’t something you stumble across, it’s something you create by aligning with what matters most to you, something you reconnect with deep inside.
The simplest way to start is by asking: What do I value most in this season of life?
For example:
- Maybe it’s freedom—more space in your days and less pressure to be everything to everyone.
- Maybe it’s creativity—bringing back the parts of you that used to love writing, painting, traveling, or simply making time to dream again.
- Maybe it’s connection—wanting deeper relationships, not just more small talk.

When you know what matters most to you, decision-making becomes simpler. If something doesn’t align with your values, it’s easier to say no. And if it does, you know it’s worth the energy.
If you’ve been quietly thinking, “I need help discovering my purpose,” this is where it starts: by noticing the values that already matter deeply to you.
Step 2: Align Your Purpose With Your Values
Once you’re clearer on what matters (your values), the next step in finding purpose in life is aligning your daily choices with them.

This doesn’t mean quitting your job tomorrow or moving across the world (unless that’s what you want!). It means looking at where you’re out of sync and making small adjustments.
For example:
- If freedom matters, could you block one evening a week just for yourself?
- If creativity matters, could you sign up for that class you’ve been eyeing or finally pull out the journal that’s been collecting dust?
- If connection matters, could you be more intentional about date nights, coffee with friends, or simply putting your phone away at dinner?
The key isn’t perfection—it’s alignment. Every choice you make in alignment with your values adds up to a life that feels more purposeful and more like you. Living with purpose!
Step 3: Create a Vision for What’s Next

Living with purpose isn’t just about the present, it’s about creating a future you’re excited to walk into. Finding a passion or rediscovering one often opens the door to your larger purpose.
Take a moment to picture what your “best chapter yet” could look like. Not the one that impresses everyone else, but the one that feels authentic to you.
- How do you spend your mornings?
- Who are you spending your time with?
- What kind of work, hobbies, or experiences fill your days?
- How do you want to feel at the end of a typical week?
This vision doesn’t need to be polished or perfect. It’s simply your compass, something you can check back on when life gets noisy and full of distractions. Because when you have even a rough vision, every small choice you make becomes easier to align with your life purpose.
A Gentle Reminder
You don’t have to have it all figured out today. You don’t need a five-year plan or the “perfect” purpose statement.

What you need is curiosity. Reflection. And the willingness to take one small step that feels true to you.
Because each step you take, each choice you make in alignment with your values brings you closer to a life that isn’t just successful on the outside, but fulfilling on the inside. That’s how finding your purpose actually works. It’s not one big aha moment, it’s a series of small, aligned decisions that build into a life you love.
